MEETINGS AND EVENTS

Please JOIN US for the "Banana Poka RoundUp" at Koke`e State Park on Sunday, May 25, 2008.

Look for our SAVE KOKEE BOOTH at the Kanaloahuluhulu Meadow (the "Big Meadow" in front of the Koke`e Museum) where this day-long environmental fair will be presented for the 19th year by Hui O Laka ~ Koke'e Natural History Museum and Hawaii Tourism Authority ~ County of Kaua`i.

The event "rounds-up" both residents and visitors alike for a family day of cool mountain music, workshops, exhibits, and activities all expressing the core message of the fair: CELEBRATE THE CONSERVATION OF KAUA'I!

What better place to come together for this event than in our beloved Koke`e Park? We all want to save the mountain from creeping commercialization. Just as the spreading banana poka vine, sweetly wearing its pretty pink blossoms, threatens to crowd out native Hawaiian plants and trees of the upland forest, so does the DLNR's proposed use of Koke`e and Waimea Canyon State Parks for revenue generation, innocently disguised as "enhancement" and "improvement, threaten this Crown Jewel of Kaua`i.

Please JOIN US and a variety of other environmental agencies and organizations Sunday, May 25, 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. as we share our message of conservation through lively hands-on exhibits and educational information.
